Forty-six years ago today, these were the headlines. Marilyn died of an overdose of sleeping pills at 36, many claim as a result of a conspiracy to silence her about affairs with both Jack and Bobby Kennedy. We will never know.
Marilyn left an estate worth $92,781. Nearly ten years ago, Christie's auctioned off some of her belongings for nearly $14 million, the real value of the items was about $8,000. In 2004, she was the top-earning dead celeb, at $8 million.
Following Monroe's death, her French poodle, Maf, was inherited by Frank Sinatra's secretary, Gloria Lovell. Sinatra had given the dog to Marilyn.
